Alice shared this cool link (Dragon Age: Inquisition) with me today and I think this Art Director makes some good points, not the least of which were warnings not to be too insular when gathering reference--looking at too much Game Art when making a Game will continually homogenize our work, but if we can reach out, pulling from the best of the Classic illustrators and Painters from Art History; from the best of Film, (cinematography and art direction), Theatre, Literature, History, etc.--Only then will we have a deep well of inspiration that will lend richness to our work.
